At home
Gravity is a rumor to be tested, daily. The leap from the fridge to the counter, the glass nudged off the table for data, the ambush from behind a door on every ankle that passes. A box lasts one afternoon before it becomes confetti. Rest comes in short sudden collapses, and even then the tail tip keeps moving, timing the next thing worth hitting.
Facing the unfamiliar
A knock at the door and this one is already there — no hiding, no bed to vanish under. The vacuum gets an inspection rather than a hiding place. A visiting animal three times the size gets an outstretched paw and a look of total confidence. On the balcony, the interesting question is what lies on the other side of the rail, which is a question nobody in this house wanted asked.
With you
Living with this one is a contact sport. Your hand is the toy, your ankles are the obstacle course, and the four-in-the-morning gallop goes straight across the bed rather than around it.
