IX · The Hermit
Under the Covers
- Solitude
- Reflection
- Inner Wisdom
Upright
The Hermit carries a lantern up a mountain alone, solitude chosen on purpose so that one small light has something to be seen against. Here the mountain is a duvet and the lantern is a pair of eyes glowing at the back of a closet. Going quiet is not a withdrawal from you. It is the private work of settling, and the warmth that comes back out afterward is the whole reason for having gone in. The closet is not up for discussion.
Reversed
Reversed, the solitude deepens rather than darkens. The lantern turns to face inward and the hiding place gets a little quieter: no coming out to be admired, no report on what was found in there. Nothing here needs fixing. Waiting near a closed door, saying nothing at all, is the whole of what today asks of you.
Reversed is not bad news here. It is the same energy turned inward instead of outward.
In the dog deck
Today the world outside matters less than the quiet inside. A tucked-away corner, a blanket, and their own thoughts—that's enough.
Try today Don't call them; just wait and welcome them when they emerge.
In the cat deck
Eyes in the Shadow
A cat slips alone into the closet, facing itself in the dark. When its eyes glimmer softly, quiet reflection reveals its truest self.
Try today Tuck yourself into a closet or box for a little quiet time alone.

This is tarot for fun. We rewrote the Major Arcana for dog life; it predicts and advises nothing. Nothing here relates to health or behaviour decisions.
